Karo Graph App Reviews
I needed a simple way to quickly diagram very simple wiring and eletronics layouts. This fits the bill perfectly. Editing is simple, quick, and intuitive. Its got the flexibility of a plaintext editor but with a graphical twist. I would love to see iCloud support, basic VIM keybindings when using the text tool, and support for unicode character shortcuts that dont collide with the tool shortcuts (for example, option-v should insert a √ when using the text tool, but it changes to the selection tool instead). Being able to choose from other installed monospaced fonts for editing would be great too, but I sort of like the chunky one it comes with. If you are more comfortable with a text-editor than a word processor and you are looking for something to quickly create simple diagrams this is perfect. Just be warned, keeping with the simplicity of what you create is the simplicity of the app itself - it provides *very* basic functionality. Dont expect too much from it.
I needed a simple app to create ASCII diagrams for software/code documentation. Hüslipapier does exactly what I want. It would be nice if a future version allowed for better text support but other than that, this is great.
Well it looked good for $6.99 … so i bought it. I’ve been using draw programs since 1984, yes auto cad 2.18, this program is unfortunately like the price … CHEAP. Come on now, no highlighted line on every 4th line (like on REAL graph paper), I can’t resize the shape(line, square, etc.) after it’s drawn, can’t do mutiples of a copied item … any chance of an update that will makes this app worth wild?
So very easy to use. So very easy to teach to others. The gestalt and utility are exceptional. Perfect for personal, business, commercial and industrial 2D reference creation by the everyday person, yet a very able tool for engineers away from their professional workstation software. If you need graph paper capability with symbol markings, Graph Paper is hands down a most simple and elegant solution.
Some feature ideas: - Have a menu/palette for saving frequently used patterns. This would be a great time saver over the current ‘open file, find, copy, paste’ - A way to type in different coordinates and then move to those coordinates. Could be very helpful for large drawings. Maybe a way to save coordinates with a name. - Colors would be nice.
This program has saved the day on two remodel projects since I switched to MAC and don’t have access to AutoCAD anymore. -Unfortunately the draw select symbols at the bottom of the frame disappear after saving and re-opening. (If this issue didn’t exist the program would get 5 stars.) PLEASE FIX THE DRAW SYMBOLS
ok, could be better
nice, but needs color abilities and the ability to fill ect, but good start
Just the app I needed
Graph paper for my Mac, but easy enough to draw straight lines without a ruler. A fantastic app for quick planning. And a no data collected privacy policy... thank you!
Problem.
A graph paper pprogram that does not print.
Does not work as expected.
Tools are innaccessible although the hot keys are working. This is a known issue with the developer who encourges downloading an earlier version. This fixed the display but then none of the tools were functioning. I was really excited to have simple graphing pad for drafting floor designs using a drawing tablet, but despite the description this wasnt it. Not worth the investment until the bugs are fixed. Refund requested. MacOS BigSur 11.4 - 15" Macbook Pro
Very useful app!
Love using this app. You don’t have to be an engineer to use it. Simple and useful features. I use it on my wood working projects to help plan things out and develop cut lists. It turly is great for this. I especially like that you can export then print out your work in color while maintaining the graph. If I had to change anything it would add scaleable fonts and a circles or oval function.
Love this app!
Thanks for anwering my question re printing. One of those things that, if I had read the directions, I wouldn't have had to ask!
Can’t get the tools to open
The graph comes up on my computer but when I try open tools I only get a gray screen
can see menu
I really like the concept of this app, but Im not sure if its just my laptop but version 2.0.8 doesnt work on my mac. I have mac os high sierra. Just thought I should let the developer know. The menu is just a grey box instead of the tool menu we see in the example. I forgot to add though, version 2.0.6 works! just not the one in the app store, at least for me
Beat graphing software for the price.
I’ve been using KaroGraph for the last couple of years and feel it’s the best graphing software for the price. Software temporally wasn’t working until I downloaded/installed the latest update to MacOS BigSur.
Love this app but Help!!
I have been using this app for a long time and love it however I just downloaded an update and have not been able to use my tool bar. When I try it’s completely dark gray in color. All I have is the graph paper. Please help I dont want to not be able to continue using Karo Graph.
I love Karo Graph
I love Karo Graph, and I use it frequently to design floorplans for my Lego houses. The app is so simple but so perfect for my needs. It's infinite graph paper that you can draw and erase on to your heart's content. Because I used Karo Graph so much, I was distraught and heartbroken that it didnt work when I upgraded to Big Sur. But now it has been updated, and it works perfectly! Yay! There is literally no other app that does what this one does. I tried to find one and couldn't. Thank you so much for updating! You've made my day!
Doesn't work at all in Big Sur.
Tried all the tools, all the colors, all the commands. Can't make one single mark on the page. Update: The only way to see what you did is to turn the ruler off and back on. Same thing with the grid: If you turn the grid off and back on, you have to toggle the ruler button off and on to get the grid to show back up. BUGGY! It's too bad, too--This is the only app of it's kind on the App Store.
Perfect
This is precisely what I was looking for. Something simple to jot down a basic layout instead of trying to visualize it in my head.
Very simple, nice UI, 5mn to use
Great for making boxy things. However it only handles straight segments, and allows you to make and placeicons (like the circles) which are small bitmaps anchored. It looks stable but unfinished. The icons for example should be greyed or hidden when you can't select them to use. It does not handle arcs, circles, ellipses etc. which tells me the underlying infrastructure might not be designed to support more complex poly lines.
Great App
I cannot describe how I adore the app. It's simple, stupid yet powerful. I love it
Great App for Woodworkers
I love this app for planning furniture pieces. It's simple, which makes it the closest thing I've found to actually drawing on graph paper, but faster, without all the messy erasing and ruler use. I only wish that the zoom was fluid instead of fixed. It would be easier to use if I could zoom to any level. Still—great app!
Great for 2d level editing
I needed a grid-based tool to draw out 2d levels for a game I am developing. Karo graph is simple and intuitive enough for just that. Thanks!
A dream
Wow, exactly what I needed in a grid based drawing tool. Especially enjoying the ability to draw dotted lines, use hotkeys, and the copy/paste feature too. Thanks!
Awesome app!
I love the simplicity and the ability to draw in isometric. It would be nice to fill using colors and draw circles, but really nothing detracts from such a great drawing app!
So far so good!
I recently downloaded this app and i love it. Its easy to use and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to use it. After i finshed my project i played with the print set up and got it perfectly how i needed it with a few clicks. Only thing i would like to be added would be click and drag to make circles or ovals the same way we can make squares and rectangles, Wouldve been the icing on the cake for my project. Other then that i like it and hope to use it for further projects.
Best graphic tool I ever use!!!
I really love this simple app. The developer have made this app very simple yet stronger enough to do anything I want to do. I like to use it to draw my design before actually write any code that programm needs. It’s perfect for system design diagram and UML diagram, this app is totally worth buying!
Not good enough
Was only $6 but when functions like arrow drawing does not work at all. Even a simple app becomes useless. Also can't move text. Basically difficult to manipulate lines. Faster on old fashioned paper.
Nope
Not intuitive, if the tool bar disappears, you need to close the app and open it for it to reappear. When you lift up the mouse button, the line doesn’t go where you want then, open a new file and start again. No way to extend or move something once it is created. I reallt wasted my money on this one. If you a graphing a slope for conctrustion and want 12x12 blocks, there is no way to change that. Pretty uselessa for looking at slopes on graph paper. Buy Graph paper, less expensive and it works umnlike this piece of ^&*$T^U$%^&!!!!
really enjoy this app
this is one of the few apps i have really enjoyed using. i’m a fan of simple lo-res diagrams and drawings and appreciate the features that this program has as well as like another reviewer pointed out how the features are seemingly intentionally limited. this preserves the style of the drawings you can produce as well as keeping the program simple fast and easy to use. Big thank you the the app developer!
Jason
Great App! Updated recently and now we are having trouble. We are unable to turn the tracker on that tells us our position on the graph. Please help
Good app, but...
It crashes a lot on 10.13.3. Usually when I haven’t saved my workspace. Very frustrating.
Interesting...
I like the addition of colors, but I also liked when the menu was set on the left side. I also miss the old tools, specifically the tool that allowed one to draw shapes that curve at the edges. Could this be brought back along with the ability to make cirlces in a future update? Thank you!
absolutely love this app
this was great i’ve been looking for a graph paper app that lets me draw lines and boxes for years, thankyou so much for making this app. only imprevement I hope gets added is the ability to be more accurate than .5 .25, .5, .75 would come in handy. but this is worth the $$$ hands down.
Very simple, basic and user friendly!
I like this app because it is very simple and only does basic graph paper. No fringes, no color, no extra’s. Just lines, dots and words. I love it for planning quilts that I’m trying to design. The only thing I would like to have is the option to print with the grid in the background on my drawing. Maybe I haven’t explored the options close enough but I can’t find the option. The app only prints the lines I drew on the paper so if I left 2 squares between lines or 3 squares between lines I never know unless I label the space. Not a huge problem to label things but it would help me in my situation to have those lines available.
Simple, easy-to-use app. Love it.
I have always been a paper/physical graph paper fan and this makes working on a graph so much easier. Easy to edit. Easy to print. Would get 5 stars if it just had some kind of ruler or counter to keep track of the number of boxes (ie measure stuff on the graph easily). We all love simple apps that “just work. Thanks for this app!
I love this app
This is a great little app. What makes it great is what is not. It is not a photoshop, illustrator, visio, or even paint clone. It is a simple diagramming tool. It is minimalist which lets you work quickly without too much thought. I used it to design my new kitchen. I almost hesitate to suggest new features. It would be sad if this app became yet another bloated graphics app. I can see the author is very judicious in deciding what features to add. I would even hesitate to add color, because then you’re in the realm of color choosers, palettes, and other nonsense. About the only feature I’d consider requesting would be a choice of 3 line thicknesses: normal, thick, and dotted. But even that might be overkill. Thanks for making such a useful app!
ok, could be better
nice, but needs color abilities and the ability to fill ect, but good start
Excellent tool for quick remodel ideas!

The ultimate doodling tool

Cool, but crashes
Really like the simplicity and whole design of the program. Only problem is that it crashes on my MacBook Pro Retina 13’.
